Meet the Founder
Hi, I'm Ashleigh, and I'd like to welcome you to FOSTERIE.
In mid-2015, after 10 years of living in Chicago, I decided to leave behind the city life for a while to explore the world. From my years as a retailer in corporate buying and global sourcing, to the more recent globetrotting, I've come to appreciate travel for being an eye-opener of different cultures, different surroundings, and different struggles. It brings an awareness to what's important like nothing else can. Along the way I've seen the beautiful and the ugly, the rich and the poor, the home free and the homeless. And it's touched my heart and changed my soul.
Motivated to combine my experience in retail buying and passion for travel with a greater purpose, Fosterie was born.
To "foster" means to encourage or promote development, and with these products, you're doing just that.
For each item designed and sourced, I strive to support artisans, small batch makers, and suppliers by paying living wages for purchases and labor, with respect to traditional design elements and methods.
My wish is for these pieces to be a wearable reminder of something positive in your life, as well as promoting something positive.
Thank you so much for your support. It means the world, and makes a world of difference.
Originally from East Tennessee, Ashleigh's heart lies in Chicago, where she got her retail start, working for a national retailer and serving as Vice President of the Chicago Fashion Foundation. Her lucky number is 13 and she's yet to meet a coconut flavored anything she didn't like. She currently lives in Medellin, Colombia.
